The New Voices Filmmaker Grant, in partnership with Netflix, was launched in 2022 to provide resources for emerging LGBTQ+ filmmakers. For the third year, NewFest is excited to celebrate the grant recipients of this program with a screening of their recent short films. Join us as we share the auspicious work from 2024 grantees Apa Agbayani, Angalis Field, Clementine Narcisse and Cai Thomas, and hear what’s to come in their future projects and emerging careers.

THE DALLES

QUEENIE

Queenie, a 73-year-young Black Lesbian and resident of the Marcy projects, navigates applying for the Stonewall Houses, NYC’s first LGBT Elder affordable housing.




SOMEWHERE ALL THE BOYS ARE BIRDS

Benjie’s obsession with long-dead movie star Jaime Reyes leads him to the rooftop where the actor took his own life. Here, he summons Jaime’s ghost for a conversation.




WHEN THE HOUSE LIGHTS COME ON
