Youth Screenings
NewFest, New York’s leading LGBTQ+ Film and Media organization, brings age-appropriate and intersectional LGBTQ+ representation into middle and high schools across NYC.

Through short films and talkbacks with filmmakers, this program creates visibility for marginalized and underrepresented communities, and fosters the development of empathy, agency, advocacy, allyship, and self-empowerment through LGBTQ+ stories. Fully curated by NewFest, in-school screenings encourage media literacy and social responsibility, and provide LGBTQ+ youth with role models of queer excellence.

I took our GSA to the short-film screening "I Like Me for Me" in October '22, and we had an amazing time. The films selected were perfect for the occasion, and the event was organized and well run. The students loved seeing representation on the big screen! We look forward to participating again this coming year.
