YOUNG HEARTS
The first love is always felt the deepest
Description
Elias is at the verge of adolescence, fighting for his father’s attention while navigating schoolyard friendships and could-be romances. When openly queer teen Alexander moves in across the street, the two develop a fast and deep friendship. However, Elias’ feelings start to grow deeper, and he realizes that he might be falling in love for the very first time—with all the excitement, confusion and joy that it entails. YOUNG HEARTS portrays the aches of a first romance with remarkable sincerity and openness, and is an affirming reminder of the dizzying journey that is young adulthood. Directed and co-written by Anthony Schatteman in collaboration with his bestie co-writer Lukas Dhont (CLOSE, NewFest34), this sincere story shows that while coming out may be easier for new generations, there is no avoiding your first heartbreak.
