WHITE LIE
A heart-racing lesbian character-study-turned-thriller that ratchets up the tension and refuses to let go
Description
A campus celebrity known for her bravery battling cancer and overwhelming medical bills, Katie Arneson isn’t exactly your average college student. The thing is — her claim of illness is all a lie. Katie’s scheme has worked so far, but, when asked to provide proof of her illness in order to be eligible for a grant she's desperately been pursuing, Katie’s lies start to catch up with her. In their fourth collaboration as co-directors, Yonah Lewis and Calvin Thomas prove to be masters of their craft, ratcheting up the film’s tension higher and higher until it reaches a fever pitch. Kacey Rohl is spellbinding as Katie, fully committing to the young woman’s murky motivations, while the supporting cast, including Martin Donovan as her father and Amber Anderson as her fiercely loyal girlfriend, complement and bolster her work beautifully.
