Celebrate the 25th anniversary of this classic by taking the red pill…to TRANScendence

Description

Lilly and Lana Wachowskis’ iconic, Academy Award-winning ’90s sci-fi epic will have you questioning whether your dreams are real as Neo (Keanu Reeves) battles dysphoria within his dronish life. When an alluring stranger (Carrie-Anne Moss) leads him to the forbidden underworld, he is awoken to the shocking reality of humanity and introduced to a liberating band of rebels.

From sartorial trend setting to its innovative visual effects and resurgent trans symbolism, THE MATRIX, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is both a product of its time and totally timeless. As Lilly told Screen Rant last year: “We were like, ‘Hey, let’s write this action film,’ and then we got our trans all over it.” Calling all queers and cyberpunk freaks to come celebrate the legacy of this legendary film—sunglasses encouraged.

This queer + trans-forward 25th anniversary screening, in partnership with Lilly Wachowski, is committed to highlighting and engaging trans-forward and gender-affirming support organizations.
