THE AGGRESSIVES: The Original (2005)
Observe five years in the lives of masc-presenting BIPOC New Yorkers
Description
Filmed over the late ’90s and early 2000s, THE AGGRESSIVES is a significant contribution to the historical narrative of New York’s LGBTQ+ community and an enduring masterpiece within the realm of queer cinema. The personal, observational film provides an intimate look at six masc-presenting QTBIPOC New Yorkers who defy societal norms and embrace their inner selves in an outward statement of visibility.
Initially screened at NewFest17 in 2005, the documentary sheds light on the challenges faced by young queer folks of color and archives the spaces they thrive in, including gender expansive performances in the Black and Latinx Ballroom scene.
