Sarah is a young woman caught in the maelstrom of multiple life-altering transitions. When her mother is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Sarah leaves her exciting life in the queer mecca of ’90s San Francisco to return to her small, conservative hometown in Vermont. Forced to grow up quickly, she must now figure out how to juggle her caretaking role, oddball family, long-distance girlfriend, and suddenly rising career all at once.
Based on Sarah Leavitt’s novel of the same name, this Cannes film is an emotional rollercoaster through grief and growth—filled with drama and dark comedy in all the right places.
