QUEENS OF DRAMA
The rise and fall of a new pop diva and her tumultuous love affair with a punk icon
Description
An outrageous musical satire inspired by the American pop frenzy of the early 2000s (think Britney and Christina), QUEENS OF DRAMA charts the rise and fall of new star Mimi Madamour and her passionate, rage-fueled love affair with punk icon Billie Kohler. Featuring an iconic cast, including Asia Argento (MARIE ANTOINETTE) and Alma Jodorowsky (BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR), this film vividly dissects the turbulence of toxic relationships—whether between fans and their idols or within passionate queer love affairs. Director Alexis Langlois (THE DEMONS OF DOROTHY, NewFest33) embraces unapologetically glittery and gaudy aesthetics to make his newest film a visual feast.

“Queens of Drama celebrates early 2000s pop culture with a French twist. Director Alexis Langlois delivers a genderless, colorful spectacle, blending absurd comedy and queer extravagance. Featuring the Argento and Jodorowski family as part of the supporting cast and with rising stars as leads, this vibrant film echoes the grotesque aesthetics of Santa Sangre and Suspiria.” – Anto(n) Astudillo, Programmer
