Asia Kate Dillon delivers a remarkable lead performance in this moving drama from SXSW about caretaking, self-worth, and making ends meet in contemporary San Francisco.

Description

New York Premiere

Cass (Asia Kate Dillon, in a remarkable lead performance) juggles jobs as a nanny, restaurant server, and party drug dealer to make ends meet and pay for their tiny San Francisco apartment. After a one-night stand with Kalli (Louisa Krause), a co-worker they have a crush on, Cass agrees to watch her 11-year-old daughter while she goes out of town. But as days pass with no word from Kalli, Cass and Ari form a bond that pushes Cass to reconcile their own childhood past and confront unexpected new realities.

An official selection at this year’s SXSW, OUTERLANDS evokes a deep, heartfelt sense of place – amid the singular streets and interiors of San Francisco – and the search for feeling at home.
