It’s the summer of 2002, and best friends Minnie and Callie are preparing for their senior year at North Little Rock High School. Callie shines as the charismatic star of the drama class, while Minnie stays in her protective shadow. Coming from a frenzied and messy home life, Minnie finds comfort in Callie’s wealthy, elegant world and family.
When their friendship suddenly ruptures at the start of summer, a directionless Minnie must navigate the school year on her own terms. Struggling to find a new identity, she forms a complicated relationship with Callie’s poised, attentive mother and pulls further away from her own chaotic home.
