MONSTER (International Centerpiece)
Unlock the mystery of a puzzling incident in this Cannes award winner from Hirokazu Kore-ada
Description
When her young son Minato starts to behave strangely, Saori feels that there must be something wrong. Suspecting a teacher’s involvement, she confronts the school for answers. As the story unfolds through the eyes of mother, teacher, and child, the undeniable truth gradually begins to emerge.
Echoing the multiple-perspective approach of Akira Kurosawa’s classic RASHOMON, celebrated auteur Hirokazu Kore-eda (SHOPLIFTERS) updates storytelling tradition to a refreshingly contemporary setting in MONSTER – which also features the final score from legendary late composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. Unlock the mystery of the puzzling incident in this award-winning film, recipient of Best Screenplay and the Queer Palme at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
