Description
NewFest is committed to making its programming more accessible to our community. This is an accessible screening with Open Captions and ASL Interpretation provided by Front Row Films for the Intro and Q+A portion of this program.
World Premiere
At the edge of an unnamed city, two unemployed, directionless trans lesbians connect in a reality-shifting way. Indigo can communicate through a spiritual-emotional telepathy, which she shares with her new friend, Junebug.
Junebug is a wanderer who fantasizes about using a spell she’d learned while hopping trains, one that takes you to a place called Elsewhere. But Indigo isn’t sure if she wants to go; she feels trapped in her life, but she’s used to it. And, once you go to Elsewhere, you can’t come back.
Housing insecurity and looming environmental catastrophe frame a story of intimate connection in INDIGO ELSEWHERE. For anyone who has experienced alienation, the film offers a cathartic exodus, imagining an improbable, even absurdly optimistic trajectory.
This screening will be followed by a Q&A.
