Struggling to emotionally support her needy boyfriend, Kali finds moments of delight through intimate conversations and sharing delicious coffee notes with Mel. NewFest alumna Anaiis Cisco directs this sensual exploration of Black women’s love stories, celebrating the life-altering impact of genuine chemistry and challenging mainstream narratives with its honest portrayal of romance and self-discovery.
The in-person screening of this film will be followed by a Q&A*
“In an interview, Cheryl Dunye was asked about her next career move. Instead of pitching a new project, she urged the media to spotlight emerging voices in queer cinema. DRIP LIKE COFFEE vividly represents these “new voices.” Filmmakers like Anaiis Cisco deliver a bold and fresh perspective, offering a sensitive and layered portrayal of Black women on screen—one that Cisco herself describes as “often overlooked by mainstream media.” – Anto(n) Astudillo, Programmer
