Parton earned some of her best reviews as Truvy, owner of the beauty salon at the heart of STEEL MAGNOLIAS. Starring alongside an award-winning ensemble—Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis, and Julia Roberts—the bosom buddies navigate life, love, and loss in small-town Louisiana.
Among Truvy’s clients is Shelby Eatenton (Julia Roberts), newly married and joyfully pregnant, though her diabetes could make childbirth life-threatening. Terrified of losing her only daughter, M’Lynn Eatenton (Sally Field) turns to her four closest friends for strength as she faces her deepest fear.
