Elvira (enduring queer icon Cassandra Peterson) busts out in this exceedingly witty camp classic

Description

Elvira (enduring queer icon Cassandra Peterson) busts out in this exceedingly witty camp classic. When Elvira suddenly inherits a mansion from her dearly deceased great-aunt, she hits the road to claim an easy-flip fortune in hopes of funding a headlining Las Vegas show. But what greets her upon arrival is a dilapidated house, a poodle, a mysterious recipe book and a puritanical city council (headed with prig-perfection by Edie McClurg) hell-bent on censoring Elvira’s (ahem) modern attributes.

Never one to back down, Elvira endears herself to an open-minded subset of the townspeople, charming them with her nonjudgmental spirit and tenacious wit, all the while courting the local hunk, defying a sinister uncle and mounting a popular pop-up Midnight Movie presentation at the downtown moviehouse. ELVIRA: MISTRESS OF THE DARK is a madcap, fish-out-of-water romp of the highest order—filled with a love of throwback genre cinema alongside unpleasant dreams and pleasant screams.
