Writer/director Marley Morrison’s debut feature is full of characters with intricate internal lives. At once hilarious and poignant, with a brilliant ensemble anchored by a lead performance from newcomer Nell Barlow, SWEETHEART transcends the coming-of-age narrative with refreshing specificity and earned emotion.
