BREAKING FAST
An adorable gay rom-com that spotlights the cultural significance of being gay, horny and Muslim in the U.S. and beyond
Description
The gay romcom is alive, well, and approached with the perfect balance of sexiness and cultural significance in Mike Mosallam's feature directorial debut BREAKING FAST. Devout Muslim Mo (Haaz Sleiman) is heartbroken after being dumped by his long-time partner when the dashing, white, All-American boy Kal (Michael Cassidy) turns his love life upside-down by sweeping him off his feet and offering to break fast with him during the holy holiday Ramadan. In addition to tender displays of romance and laugh-out-loud moments, this comedy offers timely commentary on the gay Muslim experience in the U.S. and beyond. Featuring star-making performances from Haaz Sleiman (THE VISITOR, NURSE JACKIE) as Mo and Amin El Gamal (TRANSPARENT) as Mo’s best friend Sam, BREAKING FAST is a fun and flinty film with surprising depth that will keep your heart perfectly warm during the bluster of autumn.
