Coming Out Again

All Over Me (1997)

Tuesday August 27 @ 7:00 pm
Quad Cinema, 34 W 13th St
New York, NY 10011 United States

Dir. Alex Sichel, 1997, USA, 90 mins, 35mm
Teddy Award, 1997 Berlin International Film Festival
The close relationship between aspiring punk guitarist Claude (Allison Folland) and her volatile bff Ellen is put to the test when Claude’s more-than-platonic feelings begin to surface one sleepover-fueled summer. Teenage sexual awakening is further complicated when Ellen begins dating a local thug and Claude finds herself torn between her lust for Ellen and new crush Lucy—a pink-haired, out-of-the-closet rocker (played by a pre-L Word Leisha Haily). Set in gritty 1990s Hell’s Kitchen and immersed in the riot grrl scene (with a soundtrack to match), this Teddy Award-winner for Best First Feature is as much a time capsule of lost punk era NYC as it is an enduring landmark of queer cinema. Screening in 35mm.
With producer Dolly Hall and writer Sylvia Sichel in person
