NewDraft

Dedicated to discovering new LGBT feature screenwriters and fostering their talent and/or promote new LGBT feature screenplays, NewDraft (NewFest’s Screenplay Competition & Reading Series) presents readings of unproduced screenplays throughout the year.

Former winners of NewFest’s NewDraft competition have been:  Soman Chainani’s Love Marriage, Rodney Evans’ Day Dream, Akiva Penaloza’s Hannah Henri, Kerthy Fix’s The Most Beautiful Woman in the World, Rob Williams’ The Mystic Chord, and Keith Hartman’s Vampire Strippers Must Die!

This year’s NewFest selection, The Green, was a finalist of the competition.  Previously, NewFest presented screenplay readings of Another Gay Movie, Were the World Mine, and Another Gay Sequel.  All of these screenplays went on to be produced into feature length films that were theatrically released!
