In partnership with the NYC Department of Education, this program engages high school students and GSAs (Gender and Sexuality Alliance) by providing access to LGBTQ film through field trips and on-site screenings produced and hosted by NewFest.

Click through to see select photos from the NYC Department of Education’s inaugural Gender & Sexuality Alliance Summit at Stuyvesant High School on January 29th, 2018. NewFest screened two youth-themed LGBTQ short films at a breakout session after lunch and exhibited a table in the exhibitor hall, providing information on LGBTQ film & media and free giveaways to over 700 high school students and GSA leaders from around the five boroughs.

The screening was held at the SVA Theatre and provided access for nearly 300 high school students and GSA leaders from throughout New York City. NewFest is currently developing more screenings, from both on-site presentations to field trips.
